“Pulsating synth lines and tight drums — proper hypnotic Detroit Techno.”
Why I Stock This Record
This is a Detroit Techno / Techno masterpiece from Kyle Hall. The standout track for me is “PRT206”, which I regularly play myself for its pulsating synth lines and tight, driving drum sounds.
The whole record has that raw, hypnotic Detroit energy that Kyle Hall does so well. It’s deep, hypnotic, and built with real precision — the kind of techno that works brilliantly in underground sets and rewards both close listening and playing out.
If you’re a serious vinyl collector or DJ into proper Detroit Techno, this Forget The Clock release is a must-have for the crate. Clean copy and plays strong every time.
Review
Detroit house hero Kyle Hall returns with his biggest project in some time in the form of Transmissions, a new double album on his own well-regarded Forget The Clock. All six tracks have enigmatic, functional titles and the music is as idiosyncratic as ever. Each one veers more towards techno than is Hall's usual style, with pulsating synth lines and tight, dusty drum tracks making for stripped-to-the-bones grooves. Later on, things grow ever more abstract with twisted acid lines screwing their way through the increasingly ragged and roughshod drums. These are perfectly imperfect jams from a master of the form.
