Why I Stock This Record

This is a Chicago House / Deep House masterpiece from Larry Heard. It features two standout tracks for me — Nufrequency’s “Fallen Hero” (Motor City Drum Ensemble remix) and Corrado Bucci’s “Open Your Eyes” (Andres remix) — but honestly I could easily mention every track on here.

The whole album is full of that signature Larry Heard warmth, depth and musicality. It’s the kind of record that rewards both close listening at home and playing out in a set. I reach for it regularly when I want proper, soulful deep house with real feeling.

If you’re a serious vinyl collector or DJ into Chicago House and Deep House, this Rebirth 10 release is an absolute must-have for the crate. Clean copy and plays strong every time.

REBIRTH 10 came back in 2016 as a limited double CD to mark the tenth anniversary of the label founded by visionary Daniele 'Shield' Contrini. It was curated by the deep house don Mr Fingers aka Larry Heard, and took listeners on a journey through the evolution of the label. Now it lands on vinyl for the first time ever and is still as relevant as ever with iconic releases like NUfrequency feat. Ben Onono's 'Fallen Hero' (Motor City Drum Ensemble Remix), Yotam Avni's 'Pentimento' (Joe Claussell Remix), Butch & C.Vogt's 'The Infamous' (Robytek Vs Shield Re-Edit) and original music and remixes from Larry Heard himself.
