“Step 2 has a beautiful repetitive bassline, while Super (Kiki) brings proper uptempo boogie energy.”
Why I Stock This Record
This is a proper Disco / Disco Boogie classic from LAHAAR on Soundway.
I regularly play both standout tracks myself. “Step 2” is downtempo with a really nice repetitive bassline that’s perfect for warmer moments, while “Super (Kiki)” is more uptempo boogie and always lifts the energy.
The whole record has that authentic disco/boogie feel with great grooves throughout. It’s versatile and works well whether I’m mixing or just listening at home.
If you’re into classic disco and boogie, this LAHAAR release is a must-have for vinyl collectors and DJs alike. Clean copy and plays strong every time.
Review
The Lahaar is a Trans-Tasman collaboration between Julien Dyne, Horatio Luna and Surprise Chef's Lachlan Stuckey, featuring Mara TK and Toby Laing on vocals. Channeling a heady cocktail of inspirations from New York to Lagos, the supergroup easily moves through different styles in quick succession, from uptempo boogie to mega-ploddy dub. Seguing between original bangers and exploitation movie library music, the EP closes on the riveting 'Chase Scene (Part 1)', which casts evadign tjhe law in a surprisingly emotive light.
